MAIRA KALMAN, a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and The New York Times, is the author and illustrator of eighteen children’s books, including Ooh-la-la (Max in Love), What Pete Ate from A to Z, Fireboat, 13 WORDS (with Lemony Snicket), Looking at Lincoln, and Thomas Jefferson: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Everything. She also illustrated, improbably and brilliantly, an edition of William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White’s The Elements of Style. Her latest book, Bold & Brave: Ten Heroes Who Won Women the Right to Vote, a collaboration with Kirsten Gillibrand, will be published in November 2018.
