Brian Carey has been teaching English, music, drawing, and philosophy for twenty-two years here in the city. Much of his melodic and harmonic material is traditional, but he hopes that his poetry strikes you as anything but. Brian’s other music-oriented work is an ongoing traveling recording project aimed at bringing strangers together in song, called "Domestic Harmony", which was funded last year by the Academy for Teachers’ Quixote Fellowship, and is receiving continued support from Incite. That project, and its forthcoming collection of radio essays, can be found on the internet.
Brooklyn Blues Bureau is Aaron McMickle on bass, Chris Bruffee on keys, John Newbery on drums, Lilliana Richter on vocals, Miki Navazio on guitar, and Solomon Kuckelman on guitar. BBB is a Brooklyn Based Blues Band Battling Between the Bureau of Education and Bar Association Bards, it's Bonkers!
No Call No Show is an in-your-face punk band hailing from Brooklyn, NY. Their sound is a combination of classic punk and hardcore with a strong influence of metal from the 2000s. No Call No Show’s founding member Mike DelFino is a music teacher and began the band in 2019. Josh Salant became the drummer of the band during the recording of the "PUNK AF" Ep in 2021, and Paul Terzano Jr. is the newest member of the group, making his recording debut on the upcoming record "Release the Grease."
LUMBEROB began as a solo looping concept project in late 1999 in Austin, Texas, before looping itself was a genre. Drawing attention to its own process of making, a LUMBEROB show now is a workshop in exuberant sound and physical response. Inspired by eclectic psych-noise and avant-garde experiment, LUMBEROB plays the part of Dada-dancehall toaster over a skillful yet haphazard improv beat. Recently as a Shimmy-Disc artist, Rob has released two LPs: "LANGUAGE LEARNER" and "HUNTER GATHER," plus a recent release of remixes with BOMBO BOX. Rob teaches on the Upper West side and lives in Brooklyn.
Groupwork is Ashraya Gupta and Mary Ann Keeler: teachers by day, synth-pop duo by night.
