Tuesday, Apr 21, 2026

9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m

Our partner, Young People's Chorus of New York City, is hosting this event.

Rediscover the joy of making music in this immersive, daylong master class with Francisco Núñez, the visionary founder and artistic director of the MacArthur “Genius Grant” fellowship-winning Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC). Open to all K–12 music teachers, this workshop will reconnect you with your own inner musician, providing you with fresh perspectives and techniques to invigorate your classroom and rehearsals. Drawing from the YPC model, Francisco will guide you through a dynamic exploration of personal musicianship. The day will begin with hands-on work in sight-reading, vocal technique, and rhythmic and melodic exercises. We will then delve into the body as a communicative tool, exploring conducting gestures, effective classroom management, and the art of choosing repertoire to create a compelling performance. The master class will culminate in a collaborative performance of three pieces, offering you the unique opportunity to conduct and lead your peers. This inspiring day will reignite your passion for music and empower you to bring a renewed sense of artistry and leadership to your students.
