New York Insight is an urban center for the practice of mindful awareness, called Insight or Vipassana meditation. NYI programs include talks, weekly sittings and courses as well as daylong and weekend retreats and workshops for the integration of meditation teachings into daily life.

Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, this master class will introduce four kinds of enemies we encounter in life, and explore how we can transform difficult relationships through compassion, perspective, practical meditation exercises, and the power of love. In this divisive age, we need to develop a relationship with those who challenge us, one that doesn’t disempower us or leave us feeling overwhelmed or depleted. From that place, we can take steps away from the rigid, prevailing “us-versus-them” animosity, embrace intensified interconnection, and celebrate diversity, while seeking creative solutions to conflicts. With a different vision of belonging, we won’t be so lonely anymore, and together, we can pave the way for a global shift towards a more compassionate and united world.
