With roots spanning more than six hundred years, ikebana is more than just flower arranging—it is a meditative practice that fosters a deep connection to nature’s beauty and the human spirit. Join us for a hands-on workshop as we explore ikebana’s rich history, practice fundamental techniques, and create exquisite take-home arrangements that reflect the essence of Japanese culture. This class will also highlight unique designs from the Ohara School of Ikebana, our host for this event and one of the most influential ikebana schools in the world.

Asae Takahashi

Asae Takahashi serves as the president of the Ohara School of Ikebana, New York chapter. As the founder of HANADOJO, a premier ikebana school in New York City, she is dedicated to fostering creativity and collaboration through floral artistry. Takahashi has introduced ikebana to diverse audiences, forging partnerships with the luxury fashion, beauty, and restaurant industries, as well as with renowned cultural institutions such as Bergdorf Goodman, Shiseido, Hermès, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her classes in New York City inspire an appreciation for nature and Japanese design principles, carrying forward the six-hundred-year tradition of ikebana.
