Our faces are shaped by gravity and experience. The faces of teachers have been touched by their work with countless students, parents, and colleagues. This contest calls for portraits of school teachers—photographic, drawn, or painted—that reveal the depth and complexity of the teaching life.
You do not need to be a teacher to enter the contest, but your subject must be a school teacher.
The winning entry will receive $500 and be announced by the end of 2025. The Academy reserves the right not to award a prize if submission quality does not meet the judgment standards.
Deadline: July 31, 2025
Submission Guidelines
• One submission per person.
• Submissions must include a portrait title, year, name, and location of the subject.
• Portraits can range from close-ups to full-length. The image can contain other people, but a single, classroom teacher must be the primary focus.
• You must be able to demonstrate that the portrait is of a teacher.
• Your entry must be in JPG, PNG, or TIFF format, with a resolution of at least 300 PPI. It cannot exceed 10 GB.
• You must be the creator of and own the full rights to your image, and you agree to its use by the Academy for Teachers with proper credit.
• Previously published work is acceptable.
• By submitting, you grant us permission to showcase your work in print, social media, and other promotional materials.
• We reserve the right at any stage of the contest to disqualify creations found to be made with the assistance of AI.
Submit your portrait at the link above and help us highlight the remarkable, hard-working teachers shaping our collective future.
