The Academy for Teachers Chorus offers a creative and restorative haven for hardworking, devoted educators. We meet weekly and perform twice a year. Under the baton of Amber Salladin, the chorus sings a range of music: classical, folk, contemporary, and pop. The chorus has performed at Carnegie Hall, St. Malachy’s Actors’ Chapel, and Steinway Hall. All teachers, current or retired, from public, charter, and private schools are warmly invited to join. No previous experience is required; beginning singers are welcome.
Amber Salladin is the conductor of the Academy for Teachers Chorus, which she has led since 2019. She has previously been the principal conductor of the Young People’s Chorus’ Goddard Riverside Community Chorus, as well as a conductor in YPC’s school chorus program. Currently, she is the middle and high school music teacher at The Geneva School of Manhattan, the co-artistic director of Inspire: A Choir for Unity, and the music director of Emmanuel Anglican Church. A native of southern California, Amber holds a bachelor’s in music education from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music and a master’s of music in choral conducting from the University of Southern California. She lived overseas for twelve years, working as a conductor, accompanist, arranger, and singer in Vancouver, Canada, and London, England.
