Crafting Comic StripsSpecial EventVirtual
Thursday, Mar 31, 2022
4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. EDT
Join us for a primer on comics design and the chance to create a short comic strip based on a simple theme. We’ll explore visual storytelling, panel layout and composition, and some of the many ways to design characters, background, and text. Then, Lynn will put a teacher’s spin on things by showing how to adapt this material for middle and high school students. For inspiration, we’ll look at the work of comic artists and of students, and also at Scott McCloud’s fantastic book Understanding Comics. Then, with simple supplies (paper and a no. 2 pencil will do), we’ll create our own short comics and share our work.
