The remarkable choreographer and dancer Yin Yue will introduce teachers to "FoCo Technique," a movement style created by Yue that was inspired by traditional Chinese dance, folk forms, ballet, and contemporary movement. It is adaptable for a wide range of purposes, including dance, theater, and fitness training. In the morning of this class, teachers will study the basics of FoCo technique; in the afternoon, they will learn simple movement phrases incorporating it. Some dance/movement experience is preferred.
Yin Yue
Yin Yue is an internationally recognized performer and choreographer. In 2018, Yin is the artistic director and founder of YY Dance Company, a NYC-based, non-profit contemporary dance company dedicated to the teaching, production and performance of original choreographic works by Yin, including her signature FoCo Technique which represents a dynamic fusion of folk and contemporary dance. Yin was recipient of 2021 Harkness Promise Award, and the winner of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago 2015 International Commissioning Projecthe 2015 BalletX Choreographic Fellowship, and of Northwest Dance Project’s Annual Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition in 2013. She studied at the Shanghai Dance Academy and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she received her MFA.
